The United States-based charity organisation, First Data Western Union Foundation, will be donating US$250,000 (approx J$15.25 million) to United Way International for relief efforts coordinated by United Way of Jamaica, for Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Ivan a fortnight ago.

The money, the charity organisation said, will be used to provide immediate and long-term relief to Jamaicans impacted by the hurricane.

The foundation recently provided US$50,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for hurricane relief efforts throughout the Caribbean.

"The First Data Western Union Foundation is committed to helping people around the world to enhance their lives in many ways," said Luella Chavez D'Angelo, president of the First Data Western Union Foundation.
