First Data Appoints New Compliance Officer for Western Union

DENVER, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- First Data Corp. (NYSE: FDC), a
global leader in electronic commerce and payment services, today announced the
addition of Christine E. Carnavos as senior vice president of Global
Compliance for the company's Payment Services businesses, including Western
Union.
Carnavos, who joins the company effective Sept. 15, brings more than
25 years of compliance, legal and government experience to her new role, which
was established to support First Data's commitment to regulatory compliance.
Her focus will be on ensuring the company remains compliant with anti-money
laundering initiatives, Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and related global
regulatory requirements.

Prior to joining First Data, Carnavos served as executive associate
director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) of the U.S.
Department of the Treasury, where she was head of the Office of Compliance and
Regulatory Enforcement. She also served as chief compliance officer and
manager, Corporate Compliance at PNC Financial Services. She was previously a
member of the Board of Advisors for the National Compliance Schools of the
American Bankers Association (ABA) and the ABA's Compliance Executive
Committee. She also chaired the ABA's National Regulatory Compliance
Conference and has given numerous presentations at industry conferences on a
range of topics impacting financial institutions.
Carnavos graduated with honors from the National Law Center, George
Washington University and received her bachelor's degree with honors in
Economics from Wellesley College.
